Аннотация

The course is devoted to the history of the representations of the Russian past during the 16 – 18th centuries. The objective of the course is to provide the students with the understanding of the reasons for changing the views on the Russian past in historical writings of Modern period. The course gets the students familiar with the different representations of the Early Russian history both in Russian historiography and in European one. It is focused on the different opinions on the issues of the Russian people origin, the emergence of the state in East Slavic lands, the Christianization of Rus’, the roots of the Rurikid’s kin etc as it was recognized in the Modern Era.
Besides the main task the course provided the students with general overview of the Russian and European historiography of 16-18th centuries, make clear the main tendencies and discourses of ones, trace the establishment of the professional history, introduce the basic contemporary conceptions.
